Import your contacts from Highrise

Hi there,

Good news everyone! You can now import your Highrise contacts into your Apollo workspace:

This is great news for all those active Highrise users who want to start using Apollo without spending hours manually entering their contacts into Apollo.

The Highrise import at the moment will import data from the "Export contacts" section of Highrise: it will import your contacts and tags, preserving the relationship between companies and contacts. The procedure will even allow you to undo the imports you did in the last 7 days; however, you will leave behind notes, cases, deals (since you are only importing contacts).

We will eventually work on a more comprehensive import from Highrise as a whole, although there will always be limitations. The main problem is in what Highrise actually exports: it only cover cases, deals and contacts (and notes on them), but discards specific information about cases&deals (how much they are worth, extra fields, etc.). And you still don't get Highrise's groups, users, permissions, etc. So, we are evaluating whether it's worthwhile waiting for Highrise to improve their export procedure. (If you are wondering: Apollo's export really does export everything when you export.)

The bright side is that what really counts in Highrise is the contacts: cases&deals tend to become history quite quickly, and nothing is stopping you from saying "from now on, let's create new cases and new deals under Apollo".

We are likely to allow the import of generic CSV files in the future, rather than only allowing Highrise's. However, this is a great step to minimise the effort required to migrate to Apollo.

Enjoy!

Used the importer, worked perfectly.

A question: do you ever see a universal search bar making it into Apollohq?

I've got my entire team using the system now, we're loving it, but a universal search bar (similar to highrise) would be the icing on the cake.

Searching projects, contacts, cases, deals, events etc.

Cheers,
J

Hi,

A universal search is in the list of things we need to work on. It's not going to happen in the short term, but it will eventually see light!

Good to hear.

I really do hope it sees the light of day.

It would reduce so much friction navigating the application.

Do you have a roadmap you are able to share?

I'm getting really passionate about this app.

I may be missing something, but Highrise seems to only export a batch of .txt files, not .csv.

Hi,

the "contacts" section of Highrise will allow you to export in CSV format!

Thanks for the quick response. Argh. Yes, I see that now. Contact import worked flawlessly. Moving on to Projects.
